"
I must say I was a little scared about this record with all the hype that is surrounding it. I have read a view reviews and they have all said pretty much the same thing - "This CD is amazing, maybe one of the best of the year." - You get the idea. Well if you have read one Ocean Avenue review, then you have read them all. From my first listen of it I am hooked. From the first time I head "Way Away", I knew this was going to be something special. I was not dissapointed.
Ocean Avenue starts out with three hard-rocking fast-paced songs ("Way Away", "Breathing", and "Ocean Avenue"), and then goes into a slow song titled "Empty Apartment" which is about a broken friendship. That is followed by a fast-paced song called "Life of a Salesman" which is about a relationship between a father and a son. It has sort of an earlier Blink182 vibe, and its cool. The next song, "Only One" is about a break-up and everyone can relate to it in someway. I have heard about the song called "View From Heaven" and people have described it as having a country sound to it. I found this hard to imagine until I listened to it. Yes it does have that country vibe but it is mostly because of the violin and it, like every other song on the CD, is great. The album closes on a slower song title "Back Home" and is the perfect compliment to "Way Away".
I think you should head out now and go buy a copy for yourself. You will not be let-down. This is a CD people will be talking about for a long time. Good job Yellocard!"
